Located at one of the most beautiful sites in Berlin, the Kolonnaden Bar in the Kolonnadenhof on Museumsinsel Berlin (Bodestraße, 10178 Berlin) offers a stimulating talk every Thursday night. Each event is followed by a DJ session, with drinks available throughout the evening at the round bar designed by Wolfgang Flad. This year’s series of talks is true to the motto “Neighbourhoods”: Host Jenni Zylka and guests from neighbouring institutions discuss their views about Museumsinsel Berlin.
A refreshment area first opened beneath the colonnades in the late 19th century, enjoying great popularity among residents of Berlin into the 1930s. Having successfully revived this tradition in the past two years, the Kolonnaden Bar is open once again in the summer of 2019.

The Kolonnaden Bar is part of the Connections education and outreach programme. Through this project, during the summer of 2018, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin is inviting audiences to discover the diversity of the Museumsinsel Berlin and its collections. The aim is to promote the participation of a diverse public in the activities and evolution of the Museumsinsel and its future neighbour, the Humboldt Forum.
The Connections project is made possible by support from the Kuratorium Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Board of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation).
