On 24 February 2015, the Audience Prize and the Reality Award were presented to the winners of the idea competition MAKE A WISH / WÜNSCH DIR WAS!

Voting for the Audience Prize took place online on the MAKE A WISH / WÜNSCH DIR WAS! Facebook page. The idea which received the most likes was "Seating islands - the Museum as a place for conversation” by Zeynep Cetin and Seymanur Kaya. The two 17-year-olds would like to create inviting spaces in the Museum for Islamic Art for conversations between visitors and experts, so that knowledge can be passed on by word of mouth, in the traditional way of the Islamic World. Their idea has won the girls a workshop with media professionals.

The Reality Award went to 14-year-old Merlin Hipp. His idea, entitled "Bringing exhibits to life” was judged the best by the jury of school children, museum staff, and experts. The idea is to use visual and acoustic effects, either to highlight individual exhibits or sections of them, or to simulate processes they have undergone, in order to tell their stories. The jury agreed this would be a powerful way to impart a deeper understanding of objects in the collection and enliven the debate about visual representation in Islam. The idea will be implemented at the museum this year; to put it into practice, the prizewinnner will receive financial support and advice from museum experts.

The idea competition MAKE A WISH / WÜNSCH DIR WAS!, now in its fourth year,is open to young people between 13 and 18 years of age. Run by the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, it takes place in a different museum each year. In late 2014, entrants were invited to submit their ideas for the Museum for Islamic Art.

The idea competitionMAKE A WISH / WÜNSCH DIR WAS! is made possible by the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe.
