The Neue Nationalgalerie Is Part of the Network of Warmth

05.12.2022
Neue Nationalgalerie

The Neue Nationalgalerie has belonged to the Network of Warmth since the beginning of November 2022. The solidarity-based infrastructure is part of the Berlin Senate’s relief package to help Berliners come through the winter in good shape in the face of rising energy and living costs.

To assist in accomplishing this goal, the Neue Nationalgalerie is offering additional seating islands that are accessible during opening hours, even without an admission ticket. The Neue Nationalgalerie’s cafe serves complimentary tea for everyone in the temporary warm-up room – a place to spend some time, get warm, and exchange with other visitors.

A museum is not an ivory tower. A museum belongs to all of us, and we can all learn with and from each other while also discovering how to share through art. As a museum, we are a place for everyone ‒ even when the focus is not just art but also about warming up. We are happy to be part of the Charter of Warmth.

Klaus Biesenbach, director of the Neue Nationalgalerie

The Network of Warmth

The Warmth Network is supported by a variety of community entities, including venues to meet and exchange ideas and places to get self-help information, join in cultural activities, and obtain advice in Berlin’s neighbourhoods. An interactive map shows all of the sites participating in the Network of Warmth.
