With the summer getting into gear, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin is inviting children and families to the Museumsinsel. The diverse programme of this year’s Family Activity Day revolves around the theme of portraiture.
In public workshops, participants will create portraits – through drawings, prints and collages. Inspiration will be provided by works from the collections. Exhibition discussions, a game of Museum Twister, creative activities and snacks and drinks round off the programme.
Participation in the activities is free of charge. Children and teenagers 18 years and under receive free entry to the museums on the Museumsinsel from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and may be accompanied by up to two adults free of charge. The Pergamon-Panorama is excluded from this offer. There is no need to register.
The Family Activity Day is part of the Connections education project, an umbrella project through which the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin is inviting visitors to explore the diversity of the collections housed on Berlin’s Museumsinsel. The goal is to allow a wide audience to share in developments taking place on the Museumsinsel as well as at its future neighbour, the Humboldt Forum. Connections is supported by the Kuratorium Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Board of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation).
