Telephone tours present works in current exhibitions at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. They are designed as inclusive offers targeted to blind, visually impaired as well as sighted visitors.

What Is Hidden behind Closed Doors at Museums?

Beginning at the Staatliche Museen in January 2021, participants taking part in telephone tours can explore this question with art and cultural guides taking callers through the collections and special exhibitions by phone. Vivid descriptions of the objects and settings, backed by explanatory information, inspire participants’ own imaginations.

From the relaxed atmosphere of home, this unique approach allows participants to enjoy masterpieces at the Gemäldegalerie (Old Master Paintings), the Skulpturensammlung und Museum für Byzantinische Kunst (Sculpture Collection and Museum of Byzantine Art) at the Bode-Museum, the Nationalgalerie represented by the Alte Nationalgalerie, the Friedrichswerdersche Kirche (Friedrichswerder Church) and Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin, as well as from the Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung (Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection) at the Neues Museum and from the Antikensammlung (Collection of Classical Antiquities) at the Altes Museum.
