Kupferstichkabinett
The Kupferstichkabinett (Museum of Prints and Drawings) – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin is the official partner of the 7th Urban Sketchers Germany Meeting. From 1 to 3 September 2023, hundreds of sketchers from all over Germany and far beyond are expected in Berlin. The Kulturforum on Potsdamer Platz is the central event location and point of departure for numerous sketch walks.
These walks with sketchbooks are about exploring the city together, with participants recording their impressions in drawings. Drawn snapshots are created and shared via Facebook, Instagram and other social media – according to the motto: We show the world, one drawing at a time.
The Urban Sketchers are a fast-growing community worldwide, with over 350 chapters in more than 70 countries. In Germany alone, there are around 50 official local groups. It’s only possible to estimate the number of active members because anyone can take part.
This year’s meeting in Germany is supported mainly by the voluntary efforts of the Berlin Urban Sketchers. After three days of drawing together with guests from Germany and abroad, a pop-up exhibition on the last day will take place in the lobby of the Kulturform. The drawings and filled sketchbooks created during the many local sketch walks will be exhibited at the Kulturforum on Museum Sunday, 3 September, from 2 pm to 5 pm.
