Seven new online exhibitions provide insights into the wide variety of museum collections at the Kunstbibliothek (Art Library). Some 300 works recently added to Google Arts & Culture invite viewers to peruse themes and subjects in architecture, book art, photography, graphic design and fashion.

Start with a trip! The exhibition ABC of Travel, conceived for the Kunstbibliothek’s 150th anniversary in 2018, guides viewers through the extensive Kunstbibliothek collection landscape – from early pilgrimage accounts to stylish travelling costumes, and from A for Album to Z for Ziel (“destination” in German).

Three online exhibitions delve simultaneously into the broad spectrum of the book art collection:

The architecture collection documents the exhibition Jean-François Thomas de Thomon: Drawings for Saint Petersburg, which was organised in 2019 in collaboration with the Tchoban Foundation.

Art for the Street: Art Nouveau Posters offers a trip back in time to the Belle Époque, with classics and new discoveries from the graphic design collection.

And last, but not least, there’s a little historical background: The Kunstbibliothek (Art Library) and Its Lipperheide Costume Library features particular highlights to tell the exciting history of a collection of fashion imagery.

The Kunstbibliothek has been represented on Google Arts & Culture since 2017. That year it participated in the international project We Wear Culture with the online exhibition 1930s Berlin Fashion Photography.
