The James-Simon-Galerie Receives the RIBA International Award for Excellence in 2021

The James-Simon-Galerie on the Museumsinsel Berlin (Museum Island), built according to plans by David Chipperfield Architects, has won the RIBA International Award for Excellence in 2021.

The RIBA Awards, which are presented biannually, recognise the most significant and inspiring projects around the world. Every project is subject to a rigorous assessment process by a diverse jury made up of local emissaries who visit each structure. The buildings must exemplify outstanding design and ambitious architecture, as well as having significant social influence.

The grand prize is still to be awarded to one of the winning projects: The winner of the RIBA International Emerging Architect Prize and the RIBA International Prize in 2021 will be selected by a grand jury under chairwoman Odile Decq, a French architect. Winners will be announced in November 2021.
