Museumsinsel Berlin
The large-scale Inselfest on Museumsinsel Berlin returns for its second edition: on 6 and 7 June 2026, visitors can look forward to a diverse festival programme around UNESCO World Heritage Day featuring concerts, guided tours, workshops and activities for the whole family.
Following last year’s successful premiere, which attracted more than 55,000 visitors, the Inselfest on Museumsinsel will once again celebrate culture, exchange and togetherness in 2026.
As part of the 200th anniversary celebrations of Museumsinsel, this year’s focus is on the Alte Nationalgalerie, which opened 150 years ago. Many events and activities will therefore explore its history and significance. Around 100 guided tours – including surprise tours and special tours led by museum directors – as well as free drop-in workshops invite visitors to rediscover Museumsinsel.
Celebrations around the island will already begin on Friday, 5 June 2026, with a special school programme for up to 1,000 pupils and the participatory choral festival “Dabei-Open-Air”, where 16 choirs will showcase the diversity of Berlin’s choral scene and invite audiences to join in singing.
Among the highlights on Saturday, 6 June, is the open-air programme in the Kolonnadenhof. The Deutsches Theater will present excerpts from “Der Gesang des Pottwals” and “Parzival”. In the evening, the Bene Aperdannier Trio will create a vibrant musical atmosphere with jazz, soul and modern grooves. Earlier in the day, the Chorverband Berlin will already set the tone with the participatory “Dabei-Open-Air”.
Sunday, 7 June, also features numerous highlights: the Salonorchester Unter’n Linden opens the day with opera and operetta classics, followed by musicians from the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin performing Johannes Brahms’ String Sextet. In the evening, internationally acclaimed DJ and producer Mousse T. will close the programme with an open-air set in the Kolonnadenhof.
At the same time, Sunday marks UNESCO World Heritage Day and a special democracy-focused programme under the motto “Gemeinsam für Frieden und Verständigung”. Discussions, live debates, participatory activities and other formats exploring democracy, public discourse and social cohesion will take place at the James-Simon-Galerie.
A special ticket offer applies during the Inselfest: with a day ticket for 16 euros (reduced 8 euros), visitors can access all museums on Museumsinsel as well as the Friedrichswerdersche Kirche and PETRI Berlin. Children and teenagers under the age of 18 receive free admission. Holders of annual passes may also bring one additional guest free of charge.
