Museum Europäischer Kulturen
The work of conservator-restorers generally takes place “behind the scenes”, where they carry out research on the materials and production techniques of artworks, and bear the responsibility for their preservation. On the inaugural European Day of Conservation-Restoration, the collections of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin are giving exclusive glimpses into their demanding work on museum objects – from prehistoric archaeological finds through to contemporary multimedia installations.
Visitors can gain new perspectives on the works and on the museum as an institution through a programme featuring talks and guided tours through exhibitions, conservation and restoration workshops, and storage facilities, on the Museumsinsel, at the Kulturforum, at Hamburger Bahnhof, and in Dahlem and Charlottenburg.
Entry to the events is included in the price of admission to the respective museums.
A special pass valid at all participating museums is available for 10 EUR / conc. 5 EUR.
In the conservation and restoration workshop of the Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte in Charlottenburg there is a special tour for families. No registration is required.
At the Kulturforum, there are two short, 30-minute talks which are open to the public. There is no need to register in advance.
For all other events, registration is required. Please select an event from the overview and register directly from the event page.
