The first “German-Danish Cultural Year of Friendship” in 2020 made it possible for the Kupferstichkabinett (Prints and Drawings Collection) to acquire several exciting works by Danish women artists. Susanne Hyldelund, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Germany, took a look at these new arrivals during a visit to the museum’s study room.

Among the works is an extensive, 107-folio series of prints by Ebba Holm (1889–1967) on Dante’s The Divine Comedy, which will be shown in the exhibition “Hell’s Black and Starlight” next year. Two large-format woodcuts by Ester Fleckner (b. 1983 in Aarhus), who lives and works in Møn, are also among the new acquisitions.

The prints enhance the Kupferstichkabinett’s collection of Danish art, which includes works by Asger Jorn and Bertel Thorvaldsen, by opening up new perspectives on art on paper produced in our neighbouring country.
