Tell Halaf Adventur: major crowd-puller! 500,000th visitor greeted

There seems to be no end in sight to the stream of visitors flocking to see 'The Tell Halaf Adventure'; the exhibition remains the main crowd-puller on the Museum Island Berlin. This week, Michael Eissenhauer, director general of the National Museums in Berlin, and Lutz Martin, the exhibition's co-curator, were able to welcome the show's 500,000th visitor.

Lena Stoltefuß (22) and Robin Verfürth (23), two students from Dortmund, travelled to Berlin on a five-day visit with the aim of exploring the city and its sights. A visit to the famous Pergamon Museum was naturally an absolute must.

Michael Eissenhauer shook hands with the guests of honour and handed them a bouquet of flowers, together with the exhibition catalogue. During his statement to the press, Eissenhauer was visibly delighted: 'It fills me with a sense of pride to watch as each new day brings thousands of visitors to the "Tell Halaf Adventure". The enormous success we are enjoying is not only a well-deserved reward for the impressive achievement of our scholars and researchers in their painstaking efforts to create the exhibition. It also goes to show that Max von Oppenheim's fascination in the treasures he discovered and unearthed at the site of the former palace of Tell Half lives on today in the public's enthusiasm.'
