The 1920s were a time of radical changes in art, design and society. They are the starting point of the series of events called "Triennale der Moderne", which has been taking place since 2013 in the Bauhaus cities of Weimar, Dessau and Berlin.
All three cities have works of Modernist architecture that are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. As part of the Berlin programme, a look will be taken at the preconditions for the emergence of the Bauhaus, at important protagonists in the Deutscher Werkbund as well as parallel developments in housing construction and the consequences of the re-importation of Modernist ideas after 1945.
