Pergamonmuseum
Intrigued by the collection of the Museum für Islamische Kunst, the Berliner Tape Art Crew TAPE OVER is going to transform one of the halls at the Pergamonmuseum on Museumsinsel Berlin in a live performance on Friday, 22 June 2018.
Following a Street Art Action on 3 June 2018 at Leopoldplatz in Berlin-Wedding the Tape Art Crew TAPE OVER is now bringing the urban space into the Pergamonmuseum. Inspired by the motifs and patterns in the collection and in dialogue with the objects at the Museum für Islamische Kunst they will create a spatial installation that will unfurl before viewers’ eyes during a live performance on Friday 22 June 2018, beginning at 10 am.

This work can be viewed at the Museum für Islamische Kunst at the Pergamonmuseum from 22 June to 12 August 2018.
TAPE OVER, comprised of nearly a dozen creative minds, began working in Berlin in 2011 and is active internationally. Its versatile style, informed by organic and abstract forms, is rich in detail and includes elements of Street Art and Urban Art. The young artists react directly to the site-specific conditions of their emerging works, which they integrate into the overall appearance of each location. Tape Art, a genre that began in the 1960s and was originally implemented in public spaces, involves the creation of large-scale and generally temporary installations whose meticulously planned patterns are produced using variously coloured, structured and sized tape during what is known as a Live Tape Action.
Through numerous presentations, interventions and special event formats, the Museum für Islamische Kunst has increasingly opened itself to contemporary perspectives and often invites artists to engage with its collection.
A special presentation of the Museum für Islamische Kunst and the Education and Outreach, Visitor Services department – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin in cooperation with TAPE OVER.
