The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Sparkassen Finanzgruppe have reached an agreement to continue their wide-ranging collaboration in promoting culture and the arts. As per the agreement, over the next three years the Sparkassen Finanzgruppe will continue to act as the main sponsor of a unique, world-renowned museum network - the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. The goals of the collaboration are to provide support for a number of planned exhibitions, promote projects devoted to young people's cultural education, and strengthen the external representation of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.

Michael Eissenhauer, Director-General of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, spoke about the agreement: "The exceptional standard and range of our collections oblige us to make them accessible to as wide an audience as possible. In order to do this however, we need a strong and above all reliable partner. The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin is very happy to have found such a partner in the Sparkassen Finanzgruppe. We greatly look forward to developing this special partnership over the next three years."

Comprising the Berliner Sparkasse, the DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale, and the Sparkassen Kulturfonds of the Deutsche Sparkassen- und Giroverband, the Sparkassen Finanzgruppe has been the main sponsor of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin since 2011. In this role, the Finanzgruppe works actively and sustainably to preserve the museum's collections and shape the cultural landscape of Germany's capital city.

The new sponsorship period kicks off with the exhibition "SCHLOSS BAU MEISTER: Andreas Schlüter and Baroque Berlin", running from 4 April 2014 through 13 July 2014 in the Bode Museum. Marking the 300th anniversary of Andreas Schlüter's death (in 1714), the exhibition is dedicated to the master builder's artistic creations in all their variety.

"The exhibition is sponsored by Kulturstiftung der Länder, Kuratorium Museumsinsel and Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe.

Further supporters are: Ernst von Siemens Kunststiftung, Kaiser Friedrich-Museums-Verein, Förderverein Berliner Schloss e.V., Rudolf-August Oetker-Stiftung."
