Kupferstichkabinett
With some 5000 drawings and 500 prints, the Berlin Kupferstichkabinett (Museum of Prints and Drawings) boasts the most important collection in the world of Karl Friedrich Schinkel's works on paper. The project entitled: 'Schinkel's Legacy and Historical Representation in Early Historicism. From Depot to Discussion - 3 Transformations', which has been generously funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, aims to bring these works to light over the course of three years.
Over the coming years, the drawings will undergo scientific analysis and will be presented in the Schinkel Museum's scientific online catalogue at the Berlin Museum of Prints and Drawings. The research programme will be accompanied by study days, a colloquium and two small exhibitions in conjunction with the Alte Nationalgalerie, which presides over Schinkel's paintings. All findings will go towards a major international Schinkel exhibition, which the Museum of Prints and Drawings will host to mark the completion of the project in 2012.
