As of early June, the reading and study rooms in the Kunstbibliothek, the Kupferstichkabinett and the Zentralarchiv are once again open to the public, though visits must be pre-arranged via email. Currently, visitors do not need to provide a negative test result, however, wearing an FFP2 mask is obligatory.
The reading room in the Kunstbibliothek will be accessible from 9 am to 8 pm, Monday to Friday. A negative test result is not required, however visitors must register their attendance in advance (and receive email confirmation). To register, please send an email to: auskunft.kb[at]smb.spk-berlin.de

Please note that in the third time slot from 5 pm to 8 pm, only the materials on the publicly accessible shelves can be consulted. The retrieval of literature from the stacks or the issuing of library passes is restricted to the library’s service hours, 9 am to 4:30 pm.

A maximum of 10 archive items can be requested per person, per day. With the correct call numbers, you can book a visit and request the relevant archive items up until 2 pm on the (business) day before your visit. If your visit requires research to be carried out, please get in touch well ahead of time.
