On 14 December 2022, the book “The Aftermaths of Participation. Outcomes and Consequences of Participatory Work with Forced Migrants in Museums” by curator and researcher Susanne Boersma was published.
The publication, written in English, is one of the many results of her research within the research project “POEM” on participatory memory practices. As a doctoral candidate at the MEK, Susanne Boersma studied different practices and consequences of participatory museum work. Based on interviews with museum staff and project participants, she evaluated participatory projects with forced migrants. One of the four case studies discussed in the book is the project “daHEIM: Glances into fugitive lives”, which took place at the Museum Europäischer Kulturen (2016-2017).
