New Podcast in the Volkswagen ART4ALL Online Edition: Talk with Artist Walter Dahn

02.04.2020
Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart

Until further notice, an online edition of Hamburger Bahnhof’s public programme Volkswagen ART4ALL is available during the temporary closure of all venues of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (in effect since 14 March 2020). A new podcast will be broadcasted on the first Thursday of the month. A conversation with artist Walter Dahn marks the launch of the series in April.

Guten Morgen in Köln
A previously recorded conversation with the artist Walter Dahn about his musical oeuvre, which ranges from Krautrock to new wave to rap and electronica (only in German).

The exhibition "To Whom It May Concern. Gifts of Paul Maenz" includes the Ricki-Bilder (Ricki Pictures), a cycle of paintings by Walter Dahn and Jiří Georg Dokoupil. In the early 1980s, both painters belonged to the "Mülheimer Freiheit", a community of artists in Cologne whose neo-expressive paintings created quite a stir in the art scene. In addition to his artistic practice, Walter Dahn has developed a musical oeuvre. In this conversation with Sven Beckstette, the curator of the exhibition, Dahn reflects on his relationship to music using sound clips from his bands Die Partei, Die Hornissen, Slinky Gym School, The Jewellers and #9 Dream.

Volkswagen ART4ALL Online Edition

During the closure of Hamburger Bahnhof, Volkswagen ART4ALL, the interdisciplinary and publicly accessible programme of lectures, screenings, conversations with artists, performances and multilingual guided tours, takes place as an online edition in the form of a podcast on the first Thursday of every month. The project is made possible by the Volkswagen Group.
