The two objects chosen to be honoured are the bust of Nefertiti, the core exhibit currently on show in the Neues Museum's exhibition 'In the Light of Amarna - 100 Years of the Nefertiti Discovery', and the world-famous reconstruction of the Ishtar Gate from the ancient city of Babylon, one of the Pergamonmuseum'skey attractions.

The two limited-edition stamps were today unveiled by Hermann Parzinger, President of the StiftungPreussischerKulturbesitz, and HartmutKoschyk, State Secretary at the Finance Ministry.

The stamps, worth 58c (Nefertiti) and 145c(Ishtar Gate),were designed by Stefan Klein and Olaf Neumann from Iserlohn. Both stamps went on sale at Deutsche Post sales points on 2 January 2013.
