Haus Bastian – Zentrum für kulturelle Bildung
Thanks to funding from the Berlin Sparkasse, the Welcome! Museum Club for Children and Young Peoplefrom Ukraine at Haus Bastian – Centre for Cultural Education can continue. It is being expanded with additional cost-free project days and vacation programmes.
In 2022, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin established a new education concept for children and teenagers between the ages of six and thirteen who have had to flee Ukraine. Since August 2022, the Museum Club has been taking place weekly at Haus Bastian – Centre for Cultural Education on Museum Island. Accompanied by a Ukrainian- and a German-speaking art educator, participants explore the Museum Island collections and try out artistic techniques. The flexible programme has continued to develop according to the group’s interests and ideas and has established itself as a regular meeting place for Ukrainian children and teens.
In addition, the support from the Berlin Sparkasse ensures future activities such as free project days and school holiday workshops for groups of children and teens from Ukraine.
Since 13 February, the Gemäldegalerie (Old Master Paintings) has been showing twelve paintings from the Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art as part of Preview – From Odessa to Berlin presentation. It offers a foretaste of a special exhibition initiating a dialogue between around 60 paintings from Odessa and Berlin. The show opens in January 2025 with funding from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
