Festival + exhibition
By young people for young people
'You want young people to come to the museum? Then give us space!' This was the message delivered to us in a self-made video created during the pilot phase of Make a Wish (WÜNSCHDIR WAS!), the idea competition for kids and teens held by the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. First prize in the competition was clinched by Michelle Biallowons, Luca Kokol, Cleo Schätzle, Cheyenne Schlüter, Kelly Schlüter and Sophia Wohlfarth in January 2012. Their idea is now being implemented in real life at the Hamburger Bahnhof as part of the MIXART Festival.
The idea behind MIXART is to combine fine art, sound and performance art in a festival and exhibition especially for teens. Over the course of three workshops, teenagers between the ages of 14 to 18 have the chance to discuss artworks with artists and experts on the museum staff and try out artistic techniques and actions for themselves here on site. Their experiences and the work they produce will be subsequently displayed in a show at the Hamburger Bahnhof.
MIXARTINVITES YOU TO TAKE PART IN THE FESTIVAL WORKSHOPS!
In one of the festival workshops you will have the chance to find out more about the works on display at the museum, viewing them in terms of their sculptural or pictorial qualities or as sound or performance art. Afterwards, share your experiences and ideas with other people your age, exchange ideas with artists and experts and let yourself be inspired by the various art forms on offer here.
