MAKE A WISH / WÜNSCH DIR WAS! Idea competition for teenagers at the Museum für Islamische Kunst

25.11.2014
Pergamonmuseum

If young people had a say in things, what would a museum look like? What kinds of things and activities would they plan, what shape would the rooms take, what projects for the future would they come up with? In short, what things are especially important for children and young adults when it comes to art and culture? By posing these questions, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin wants to encourage teenagers to get involved in an ideas competition as a way to facilitate new and surprising concepts. The Make a Wish/WÜNSCH DIR WAS! project is a sign of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin' special commitment to cultural education for children and young people. It is our way of inviting critical thought on art, culture and the institution of the museum and allowing young people to get actively involved in cultural production and what their museums have to offer.

Make a Wish/WÜNSCH DIR WAS! is aimed at young people between the ages of 13 and 18, and all school and sixth-form pupils. The submitted projects should not only be innovative but implementable, and the best idea, selected by a jury comprised of museum experts, will receive financial support and professional help on the part of the museums in getting it off the ground.

Online applications can be submitted from now to 4 January 2014 in the form of photos, videos, audio files or a short text, by going to the WÜNSCH DIR WAS! website at: www.wuenschdirwas.museum. (Jury session and award ceremony: 13 January 2014).
