Neue Nationalgalerie
The collaboration between Gewobag’s 'Berliner Leben’ and the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin has kicked off with a special school project entitled 'Your Own History’. Gewobag’s foundation has committed to sponsor cultural education projects in the various museum divisions that make up the Nationalgalerie, thus giving a vital boost to one of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin’s core missions.
Some 21 primary school children spent five days getting to grips with artworks in the collection display 'Expansion of the Combat Zone, 1968-2000, the Collection Part 3’. With assistance from art-appreciation teacher Julia Devies and illustrator Till Christ, the children made drawings and invented stories on selected works of art. A companion guide to the exhibition (in booklet form), for children by children, has now been created based on the 'Your Own Story’ project. In the booklet, children visiting the Neue Nationalgalerie can draw and jot down their own ideas on works of art. The booklet is available from the ticket desk free of charge from 3 June for children and their adult companions.
Berlin-based Gewobag is one of the leading housing trusts or associations in Germany. With the founding of its Berliner Leben foundation in 2013, the municipal corporation consolidated its commitment to continuous and sustainable neighbourhood development in many districts of Berlin. At the heart of the foundation’s work is the promotion of equal participation and intercultural integration in Berlin life. The Berliner Leben foundation promotes art, culture, and sports, as well as projects for youth and seniors.
