In the near future, Rayyane Tabet’s award-winning design, Ode to Care, will enrich the courtyard of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin depots and workshops in Berlin-Friedrichshagen. The Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR) conducted the competition’s application and selection process. All competition entries are on view at the Ernst-Reuter-Haus, the BBR’s headquarters in Berlin, from 18 June to 1 July 2024.
The Kunst-am-Bau (Art in Architecture) Competition aimed to enhance the depots and workshops in a creative dialogue with the site. The artist, Rayyane Tabet from San Francisco, convinced the jury with his design for a monumental marble sculpture and was awarded 1st Prize. The 2nd Prize went to the artist Karin Sander (Berlin / Zurich). The work of artist Florian Slotawa from Rosenheim made the shortlist. The jury, chaired by Prof. Dr Georg Imdahl, met in Berlin on 24 May 2024. The Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning carried out the competition (by invitation) with ten participants on behalf of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (SPK).
The BBR presents all of the competition entries from 18 June to 1 July 2024, Monday to Friday, 9‒6 pm, at Ernst-Reuter-Haus, Straße des 17. Juni 112, 10623 Berlin. Admission is free.
