01.08.2019 As part of the project Your Own Story, primary schoolchildren have developed an exhibition guide for other kids.
Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart - Berlin
Together with an art educator and an illustrator, they explored works by artists such as Donald Judd, Jeff Koons and Rachel Whiteread in a playful and active way. Through their sketches, illustrations and text fragments, voice recordings and stories, an exhibition guide has been produced that is available to young museum-goers free of charge from the museum’s ticket desk from 15.09.2019. The ideas developed by the students encourage other children to make their own discoveries and tell their own stories about the art on display at the Hamburger Bahnhof.
The Nationalgalerie of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Berliner Leben – a foundation of the Gewobag housing association – have been working together successfully since 2014. KIEZ MEETS MUSEUM is a continuation of the collaboration that began in 2016. Four projects for children, teenagers and young adults will take place each school year until mid-2020.
With the founding of their Stiftung Berlin Leben in 2013, the Gewobag consolidated its commitment to continuous and sustainable development in many districts of Berlin. The foundation’s work focuses on promoting equal participation and intercultural integration into Berlin life. Stiftung Berliner Leben fosters art, culture and sport, as well as projects for adolescents and senior citizens.
Further information on the foundation is available online at www.stiftung-berliner-leben.de.
