KIEZ MEETS MUSEUM: Exhibition guide by children, for children, available free of charge at the Hamburger Bahnhof

10.07.2017
Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart

With ‘Deine eigene Geschichte’ (‘Your Own Story’), primary school pupils have developed an exhibition guide for children with personal stories about works of art at the Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart - Berlin, including those by Joseph Beuys, Roy Lichtenstein and Wolf Vostell.

Together with an art educator and an illustrator, the children playfully and actively discovered works of contemporary art. A sketchbook accompanying the exhibition has been created from their drawings, sketches, text fragments, sound bites and stories, and will be available free of charge to young visitors at the museum’s cash desk from 12 July 2017. The ideas developed by the pupils encourage other children to discover and share stories about the art displayed at the Hamburger Bahnhof.

‘Deine eigene Geschichte’ is made possible by Berliner Leben, a foundation belonging to Gewobag, and is part of the cooperation KIEZ MEETS MUSEUM – held between the Nationalgalerie (Staatliche Museen zu Berlin) and Berliner Leben. The Nationalgalerie and Berliner Leben have been working together successfully since 2014. The collaboration KIEZ MEETS MUSEUM will continue from 2016 to 2018 and will offer four projects for children, young people and young adults each year.
