At the invitation of the art education department at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin, Achtet AlisMB, the youth committee at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, took a close look at the exhibition,Scratching the Surface, and developed five educational programmes. Available at the exhibition until it closes on 28 November 2021, they provide aspects, activities and discussion points the committee thought were lacking.

The programmes are available to visitors as postcards in the exhibition space free of charge and can be used separately. They allow visitors to expand their exhibition experience with background information.

The Youth Committee Achtet AlisMB: Young People Rethink Museums

Achtet AlisMB was developed as part of lab.Bode – Initiative to Strengthen Museum Education from the school project Youth Lab Berlin, in which young people spent an entire school year working on various forms of youth participation in museums. Since January 2021, the youth committee has been meeting as a permanent body. Achtet AlisMB sees itself as speaking for young people and, through its activities and involvement, as standing for the democratisation of the museum and the linking of young people’s daily lives with the museum.
