Haus Bastian – Zentrum für kulturelle Bildung
Haus Bastian, the new Centre for Cultural Education, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, opens its doors to visitors as part of the Lange Nacht der Museen (Long Night of Museums) on 31 August 2019 with workshops and special events for adults. A Special Event Day for children and families follows on Sunday, 1 September 2019.
Situated directly adjacent to the Museumsinsel (Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site), Haus Bastian offers richly diverse possibilities for innovative educational work and outreach programmes. As of September 2019, the centre will be available to a wide audience: school groups and students, children and families, teenagers and adults.
We welcome children, teenagers and adults to help us celebrate the two-day opening at Haus Bastian.
Workshops and Special Events for Adults as part of the Lange Nacht der Museen on Saturday, 31 August 2019, 6 pm ‒ 10 pm
Visitors to the Lange Nacht are invited to be the first guests to explore the new educational centre from the ground up. Workshops and special events inspire Haus Bastian visitors to expand their explorations to include the collections on the Museumsinsel and to consider them from special viewpoints.
Special Event Day for Children and Families on Sunday, 1 September 2019, 1 pm ‒ 5 pm
On Sunday, Haus Bastian belongs to children and families. A rich and varied inaugural programme on this Special Event Day invites visitors to explore the new venue located on the Kupfergraben. A type of art obstacle course has been designed, inducing visitors to shuttle back and forth between Haus Bastian and the Museumsinsel. Couriers, runners and guides encourage connections to be discovered between the buildings’ interior and exterior spaces. And talks about exhibitions evolve into tours through the museum collections.
The projects at Haus Bastian are funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and the Kuratorium Preußischer Kulturbesitz.
