Free Admission to the Neue Nationalgalerie Every Thursday, Starting 5 January 2023

03.01.2023
Neue Nationalgalerie

Starting Thursday, 5 January 2023, admission to the Neue Nationalgalerie is free every Thursday from 4 to 8 pm as part of the Volkswagen Art4All initiative. Once a week, access to the special exhibitions in the upper hall and the presentation of the collection on the lower level is free of charge.

In response to the great popularity of the monthly free admission that began on 16 December 2021, the Volkswagen Art4All initiative is being expanded to offer even more people the chance to visit a museum for free. Live speakers invite visitors to join in conversations and short tours through the exhibitions. Currently on display are the special exhibitions Monica Bonvicini. I do You and The Neue Nationalgalerie. Its Architect and Its Building History.

It is recommended to book time-slot tickets at the online ticket shop of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. If these are already fully booked, time-slot tickets are also available on site for a spontaneous visit. There may be longer waiting times.

Klaus Biesenbach, director of the Neue Nationalgalerie:

Art is an essential need of people in our society, and free admission ensures that art is accessible. Every Thursday evening from 4 to 8 pm, art is free for all! Our partner Volkswagen is to be thanked for this.

Volkswagen Art4All

Through the Volkswagen Art4All concept, Volkswagen has been making art and culture accessible to ever more people since 2018 – through free admission to current exhibitions and the collections, as well as with complimentary educational programmes. The project was developed collaboratively in partnership with the Nationalgalerie – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. Volkswagen Art4ALL now takes place at three renowned museums on different days of the week: the Neue Nationalgalerie, the Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart and the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg.
