Museum Europäischer Kulturen
Every year at the beginning of summer, the Fête de la Musique (The Festival of Music) connects people in 540 cities around the world. And the Museum Europäischer Kulturen (MEK) in Dahlem will be taking part in the celebrations!
On Thursday, June 21 2018, from 4:30 p.m., the museum invites you to enjoy a diverse evening of music in its atmospheric garden. The musical repertoire includes French chansons, folk, rockabilly and a cappella, as well as swing and Balkan folk. Whether you just want to relax to the melodies or are crazy about dancing, you’re in the right place at the MEK.
The eßkultur restaurant will be taking care of the refreshments, with a top-notch barbecue.
To celebrate the occasion, the MEK will also stay open until 8 p.m., where you can see the exhibitions I Never Said Goodbye | Women in Exile, 100 Percent Wool and Cultural Contacts: Living in Europe.
Chanson Trottoir turn French chansons into a vibrant street party where you can dance, laugh, sing and cry. Whether young or old, Chanson Trottoir puts a smile on everyone’s face.
Inspired by old folk songs, ’50s country and rockabilly, this singer-songwriter from Berlin creates music in all shades of RED.
A Berlin a cappella band that dives into the deep, blue sea in search of lyrical pearls, making them shine resplendently in new, musical garb. Their sea shanties – at turns eerie and voluptuous – will captivate you with their lyrics, enveloped in melodies of their own composition.
‘Nova flies to the moon’ – live music and good vibes. With their sound, the four guys and their frontwoman reinvent Gypsy swing & Balkan folk. Always making sure to keep the tunes danceable and lively.
