Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart
On 18 March 2019 German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier spoke before 700 invited guests as part of the 42nd Members’ General Assembly of the Freunde der Nationalgalerie e.V., using his speech to commend private patronage.
In his address, held in the historical hall at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin, Steinmeier particularly praised the collective commitment of the members: “My solidarity goes beyond your cause for the sake of art; it also goes to the institution and the democratic constitution of this association of Friends. You choose to make something possible, join forces, then concentrate your strengths and talents for a common goal: Showing art and making it accessible to the public – that is what matters.”
