Family Activity Day at Pergamonmuseum: Das Panorama on 27 January 2019

On Sunday 27 January 2019, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin is inviting children, teenagers and families to explore the newly opened Pergamonmuseum: Das Panorama as part of an activity day running from 12 until 4 p.m.

Together with highlights from the museum’s Antikensammlung, artist Yadegar Asisi’s gigantic circular panorama of the ancient city of Pergamon offers a spectacular glimpse into life in the ancient world. The activity day includes two public workshops focusing on themes from the exhibition project: visitors will develop a large-format panorama on the windows of the building, while a subsequent workshop will be devoted to the topic of the use of colour in ancient sculpture. Exhibition talks will take visitors on a trip back in time to 129 AD, allowing them to explore Pergamon’s temples, theatres and palaces. A game of museum bingo based on objects from the Antikensammlung as well as snacks and drinks round out a multi-faceted programme.

PERGAMON: Masterpieces from the Ancient Metropolis and 360° Panorama by Yadegar Asisi

On 17 November 2019 the temporary exhibition building Pergamonmuseum: Das Panorama opened opposite the Bode-Museum with a unique exhibition project: Pergamon: Masterpieces from the Ancient Metropolis and 360º Panorama by Yadegar Asisi. Following years of development, this project presents highlights from the holdings of the Antikensammlung as well as a completely reworked panorama image by artist Yadegar Asisi. The immersive effect of Asisi’s panorama, together with 80 ancient sculptures as well as new multimedia visualisations of the Pergamon Altar by Studio asisi in the ca. 2,000m2 exhibition space has resulted in a pioneering total concept that makes it possible to relive the visual impression made by the ancient metropolis. Beginning in February 2017, a purpose-built temporary exhibition building, Pergamonmuseum: Das Panorama, was erected opposite the Bode-Museum following an urban-planning concept designed by Yadegar Asisi and architectural plans by spreeformat architekten GmbH. The building project was realised by Interimsbau Pergamonmuseum Realisierungsgesellschaft mbH, an enterprise of the Wolff Gruppe Stuttgart/Essen. The building is scheduled to be used for the exhibition project until 2024.

Connections

The Family Activity Day is part of the Connections education project, an umbrella project through which the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin is inviting visitors to explore the diversity of the collections housed on Berlin’s Museumsinsel. The goal is to allow a wide audience to share in developments taking place on the Museumsinsel as well as at its future neighbour, the Humboldt Forum. Connections is supported by the Kuratorium Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Board of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation).
