Extended opening times for the final days of ‘Alchemy. The Great Art’

18.07.2017
Kulturforum

The major exhibition at the Kulturforum shines a light on the relationship between art and alchemy. On show are more than 200 exhibits from more than 3000 years of art and cultural history, taken from the rich collections of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Staatsbibliothek, and enriched by numerous outstanding loans from prestigious institutions around the globe.

Due to visitor demand, extended opening times apply for the last weekend:

·  Thurs, 20 July 2017: 10:00–20:00

·  Friday, 21 July 2017: 10:00–20:00

·  Saturday, 22 July 2017: 11:00–20:00

·  Sunday, 23 July 2017: 11:00–18:00

Alchemy is a creation myth and therefore intimately related to artistic practice – this idea permeates all eras and cultures, shaping Alchemy’s theoretical underpinnings as well as artistic creativity. An exhibition dedicated to the art of Alchemy is consequently predestined for the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, whose diverse collections stretch over time from pre- and early history to the present. Alchemy is a universal theme for a universal museum.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue in the form of an alchemical card box that highlights, by cross-referencing, the diversity of the individual works and their rich interconnectivity across time, cultures, and geographical areas.
