Xinyi Cheng’s solo debut exhibition in a museum setting, The Horse with Eye Blinders, is accompanied by the painter’s first catalogue.

The publication includes nearly all her works on view at Hamburger Bahnhof, some of which were created especially for this presentation. These paintings depict individual figures or pairs. The catalogue features a text by Cheng and an essay by curator Sven Beckstette on the relationship between the motifs and colouration used in the artist’s paintings. In 2019 Cheng was awarded the Baloise Art Prize, which made both the exhibition and publication possible.

The catalogue Xinyi Cheng: The Horse With Eye Blinders includes essays by Xinyi Cheng and Sven Beckstette. Published by the Nationalgalerie – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Wienand Verlag: German/English bilingual version, 48 pages with 29 colour illustrations, 24 x 15 cm, bound, ISBN 978-3-86832-614-7, 18 euros.
