Haus Bastian – Zentrum für kulturelle Bildung
The talk show Evenings in the Verstärker explores the question “What’s Your Thing, Dude?” beginning on 12 March 2020. On five evenings the topic of “dudism” is examined from various perspectives. The venue is Haus Bastian, the Centre for Cultural Education of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. Admission is free.
Under the title “All the Young Dudes / Carry the News”, Bodo Mrozek, pop author and historian, and Klaus Hurrelmann, youth researcher and social scientist, discuss youth cultures and generation gaps. Moderated by Jenni Zylka, they probe questions such as “What does youth have to do with pop?”, “Why can’t you be old and hip?”, and “How long have pop culture and youth been linked?”.
Participation is free of charge; no registration is required.
The Verstärker programme is a catalyst energising the new centre for cultural education at Haus Bastian. Every six months interdisciplinary topics and themes pertaining to various collections are introduced for discussion. A setting consisting of reference objects, resource materials, explanatory texts and formulated questions, as well as calls for action, provides the stimulus. Participants approach the subject from differing perspectives, discovering links to the collections on the Museumsinsel (Museum Island), to their own interests and experiences, and contributing their own points of view.
