“Telling Stories with Pictures” is the topic of Haus Bastian’s current Verstärker (in-depth look) programme. As part of the event series “Evenings in the Verstärker”, once a month, comic book artists, cartoonists, and other illustrators introduce their works to participants, instructing them how to draw as they do. In short sessions, DJs and musicians set the tone for inspiration.
Programme
Launching the series on Wednesday, 25 January 2023, at 6 pm, illustrator Frank Höhne presents his works for magazines, periodicals and international corporations. His associative and playful approach to images and texts encourages others to design their own illustrated stories. DJ Thorsten Lütz, aka Strobocop, ensures an entertaining work atmosphere.
Guests from Cologne, comic illustrator Leo Leowald and musician Harald Sack Ziegler, feature on 22 February 2023 at 6:30 pm.
On 29 March 2023, at 6:30 pm, artist Jim Avignon will be present, both drawing and providing the musical framework.
• Irem Kurt from the Ousa Collective gives insights into her work, which artistically reflects on socially relevant issues and creates more visibility for BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour), (post-)migrant and marginalised perspectives, on 26 April, at 6:30 pm.
The Verstärker Event Series
The Haus Bastian – Centre for Cultural Education’sVerstärker programme is its energising catalyst. Every six months, interdisciplinary topics and themes about various collections are introduced for discussion. A setting consisting of reference objects, resource materials, explanatory texts and formulated questions provides the stimulus. Participants approach the subject from differing perspectives, discovering links to the collections on the Museumsinsel (Museum Island) Berlin and to their own interests and experiences, while also contributing their points of view.
