Humboldt Forum
The discussion event “Inventur – Kolonialismus und Ethnologie im Pazifik” (Inventory – Colonialism and Ethnology in the Pacific) is taking place on October 2021, at 7 pm, at the Humboldt Forum. The Ethnologisches Museum (Ethnological Museum) and the Museum für Asiatische Kunst (Museum for Asian Art) – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin are hosting the event to the panel discussion.
The question of how ethnological museums have dealt with colonial history will be discussed by historian and journalist Götz Aly (Das Prachtboot); filmmaker and screenwriter Martin Maden; Birgit Scheps-Bretschneider, curator of the Australian/Oceanic collection at the GRASSI Museum für Völkerkunde zu Leipzig/Staatliche Ethnographische Sammlungen Sachsen (Leipzig Museum of Ethnography/Saxon State Ethnographical Collections); and Lars-Christian Koch, director of the Ethnologisches Museum and the Museum für Asiatische Kunst in Berlin as well as of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin’s collections at the Humboldt Forum. Radio and television moderator Hadnet Tesfai moderates the event.
