As part of Fashion Week, we welcome Der Berliner Salon to the Kulturforum with fashion collections from the Kunstbibliothek (Art Library) and the Kunstgewerbemuseum (Museum of Decorative Arts). The presentation featuring current approaches in German fashion design, curated by Christiane Arp, is one of the Fashion Week highlights. It is the first time Der Berliner Salon is opening at the Kulturforum for two days with free admission. Within this context, the Kunstbibliothek’s Modebild collection (fashion images) is being used to trace a course through 200 years of fashion magazines. The Kunstbibliothek’s lecture series MODE Thema MODE (FASHIONS on the Subject of FASHION) about the fashion capital Berlin kicks off this year at the closing event.
The fashion designs can be viewed with free admission on Tuesday, 6 September, and Wednesday, 7 September 2022, from 10 am to 6 pm in the Kulturforum’s exhibition halls and lobby. At the closing event on Wednesday, 7 September 2022, starting at 6 pm, staff of the Kunstbibliothek’s fashion images collection will continue a lecture series begun in 2003, MODE Thema MODE. The lectures focus on Berlin as a fashion capital. Participation in the event, held in the lecture hall at the Kulturforum, is free.
