The risks and opportunities of digital technology will be discussed at an event jointly hosted by the Union der deutschen Akademien der Wissenschaften (Union of German Academies of Science) and the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation). The digital revolution has brought about profound changes in our day-to-day existence, our lives as a whole and the dialogue between science and society. Smartphones, tablets, eReaders, the Internet: it is in the means of communication that we have seen the greatest advances, increasing the amount of accessible information and the opportunities for social communication, and changing the way in which we receive, collect and pass on data. Technical progresss is ushering in a new era, the risks and opportunities of which will be the subject of debate at this event. Digital identity and the culture and technology of communication will be the central themes for three panel discussions, a World Café group dialogue and a roundtable conversation.
Only a limited number of places are available for this event and booking is essential. Please apply by email [firstname.lastname@example.org] by 22 August 2014. Please give us your contact details and let us know whether you would like to take part in the follow-on visit to the Hamburger Bahnhof.
