07.11.2017
Kulturforum

The EVA Berlin conference (Electronic Media and Visual Arts) is an annual discussion forum for electronic documentation and visualization technologies in the field of cultural heritage applications. The 24th EVA Berlin conference "Digitally Remastered - Cultural Heritage and Virtuality" will be held from 8 to 10 November 2017 in the Kunstgewerbemuseum at the Kulturforum.

Digital Transformation of Cultural Heritage

"Digitally Remastered - Cultural Heritage and Virtuality" is the focus of this year's conference. We want to address the digital transformation in the CH sector not only within the narrow limits of reproductive processes of digitization, but also as a co-creative procedure that is best described as "digital remastering". The digital object in 2D, 3D, sound or video format recodes the features of the original and supplements these with a variety of additional documentary, functional or structural information. The original work thus finds its equivalent in a unique digital object, which can leave behind the limited space of the museum and develop its own effective aura on the IoT, in social networks, on gaming platforms or in research and science as a virtual, smart and shared heritage.

Broader access to knowledge and information is on top of the digital agenda, but there are also new approaches to widen the spread and circulation of knowledge and to provide for public media environments which enrich and complement the holistic experience of the work of art.

24th EVA Berlin Conference

EVA BERLIN 2017 is the forum on which these topics are discussed -  an interface between memory institutions, technology developers, information scientists and public administrations. In addition, we shall consider the challenge of ICT driven services and experiences with reference to varying perspectives, aesthetic concepts and media artists.
