Brancusi is the Most Successful Exhibition at the Neue Nationalgalerie Since 2012

With more than 300,000 visitors expected by the close of its run on 9 August, the special exhibition Brancusi is set to become the most visited exhibition at the Neue Nationalgalerie since Gerhard Richter in 2012. The ten visitors who bring the exhibition's total attendance to 300,000 will each receive an exhibition catalogue. In response to the sustained high level of public interest, the museum is extending its opening hours for the exhibition's final weekend on 7 and 8 August 2026 and offering additional personal tours with the curators and the director.

Since opening on 20 March 2026, this unique collaboration with the Centre Pompidou in Paris has brought together more than 150 works by the Romanian-French sculptor and marks the first comprehensive retrospective of Constantin Brancusi's work in Germany in more than 50 years. Never before has the work of one of the most important sculptors of modernism been presented in Berlin.

Guided Tours, Events and Extended Opening Hours for the Exhibition’s Finale

In response to the exhibition's outstanding success, the Neue Nationalgalerie will extend opening hours to 10 am to 8 pm on Friday, 7 August, and Saturday, 8 August 2026, for the exhibition's grand finale. On both days, director and co-curator Klaus Biesenbach will lead personal tours of the exhibition at 10 am and 7 pm. Co-curators Maike Steinkamp and Nikola Richolt will offer express introductions on Friday from 5 to 7 pm and on Saturday from 2 to 4 pm.

For children and families, free workshops will take place on the terrace of the Neue Nationalgalerie on Friday from 2 to 6 pm and on Saturday from 12 to 4 pm. An outdoor bar will be open on both days from 4 to 8 pm. On the exhibition's final day, Sunday, 9 August 2026, the exhibition will be open from 10 am to 6 pm. The ten visitors who bring the total attendance to 300,000 will each receive an exhibition catalogue.

Brancusi Date Night Special

The Brancusi Date Night Special will take place on Thursday, 23 July, Thursday, 30 July, and Friday, 7 August 2026 from 6 pm onwards. The special package includes two exhibition tickets, two drinks at the café or bar, and a small surprise to take home. Tickets are available exclusively online.

Free Admission on 6 August

On Thursday, 6 August 2026, admission to the exhibition will be free from 4 to 8 pm as part of Volkswagen Group Art4All. In addition to short guided tours (German: 4:15 pm, 5:15 pm, 6:15 pm and 7:15 pm; English: 4:45 pm, 5:45 pm and 6:45 pm), art mediators will be available throughout the exhibition to answer questions, engage in conversation and offer brief insights. In the Open Studio, visitors can explore new movement-based approaches to Brancusi's work under the theme Sculptures in Motion from 4 to 8 pm.
