200 of the most important paintings are now presented in the opulently illustrated book Gemäldegalerie: 200 Masterpieces of European Painting. On Monday 13 January 2020 at 6 pm another book launch will be held at the Urania (An der Urania 17, 10787 Berlin). Tickets: 6 to 11.50 Euro.

The Gemäldegalerie of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin brings together one of the finest and most exhaustive collections of European painting in the world. The collection provides a nearly seamless overview, from medieval panel painting all the way to Neoclassicism around the turn of the 19th century. Nearly all the famous masters of the German, Netherlandish, Italian, French, Spanish and English schools of painting are present, spanning five centuries of development, including big names such as Dürer, Giotto, Botticelli, Raffael, Tizian, Rembrandt and Rubens.

Nearly all the famous masters of the German, Netherlandish, Italian, French, Spanish and English schools of painting are present, spanning five centuries of development, including big names such as Dürer, Giotto, Botticelli, Raffael, Tizian, Rembrandt and Rubens. Each work is presented as a large colour illustration and set in its art historical and historical context.
