„Ausgerechnet: Museen 2020“: New Publication by the Institut für Museumsforschung

Institut für Museumsforschung

For the third time, the Institut für Museumsforschung (Institute for Museum Research) has published a visually enhanced compact version of its comprehensive museum statistics. In addition to the fundamental data collected annually, Ausgerechnet: Museen 2020 (Doing the Math: Museums in 2020) presents selected results from the special survey concerning the museums during the pandemic as well as basic information on the scope, processing status and main substantive and material aspects of museum work in Germany.

Numerous infographics make the results clear and easy to understand. Designer Harald Oehlerking could once again be recruited for this volume to translate this data into his very distinctive visual language. The publication Ausgerechnet: Museen 2020 appears as volume 8 in the series of special issues of Zahlen & Materialien from the Institut für Museumsforschung and is available online as a PDF file (8 MB, in German).

More detailed data will be published in the long version of the Statistische Gesamterhebung 2020 (Statistical Survey).

Online Questionnaire for the2021 Comprehensive Survey

After the survey is before the survey: The Institute für Museumsforschung is already collecting data for 2021 in order to publish it at the end of 2022. Museums that have the access key can participate in the survey via the corresponding online questionnaire.
