Institut für Museumsforschung

The Institut für Museumsforschung (Research and Documentation Centre) has published a second visually revised, compact version of its complete museum statistics. In addition to general data collected annually, Ausgerechnet: Museen 2019 (Calculated: Museums, 2019) introduces selected findings from the special survey on the subject of sustainability, as well as basic information on the scope, current state of processing, and content and material focuses of museum work in Germany. Numerous infographics illustrate the statistics, making them easy to understand.

The Institut für Museumsforschung has just released the publication Ausgerechnet: Museen 2019, volume 7 in its “Sonderhefte Zahlen & Materialien” (Special Issues on Numbers & Materials) series. It is available online.

Detailed numerical data has been published in the extended version of the Statistical Complete Survey, 2019.

Online Questionnaire for the Complete Survey 2020

The follow-up to the survey is preparation for the next survey: The Institut für Museumsforschung is currently tracking statistics for the pandemic year 2020 ‒ in order to publish them at the end of 2021. Museums that have been issued an access key can participate in the survey here.
