Kulturforum
The museum for 20th-century art designed by Herzog & de Meuron will be constructed over the next few years at the Kulturforum.
The Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz, in coordination with the chairperson of the foundation council, Minister of State Monika Grütters, has appointed an advisory board of prominent architects as a neutral entity at the interface between politics, the public, the general contractor (Bauherr), and the building administration, which will also support the architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron during the planning process. Arno Lederer heads the board, whose other members are Arno Brandlhuber, Andreas Hild, Hilde Léon, Regula Lüscher and Hans-Günter Merz.
In a statement, Hermann Parzinger, President of the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz, said: ‘The expert panel, as a neutral entity placed at the intersection between politics, the public, the general contractor, and the building administration, will advise us on difficult issues and, if necessary, serve as a mediator. It can also promote communication about the project and take a stand as a moderator in the public discourse. I am very grateful to the members for their active support in all these aspects of the process.’
As the appointed building administration, the Landesbetrieb Bundesbau Baden-Württemberg oversees the entire planning and construction project. The first visible steps in the process will take place soon: subsoil tests on the construction site at the Kulturforum which will provide relevant information for the ongoing structural planning.
