Art lovers can now follow the talk and discussion series “Schinkel – A View of the Flower of Prussia” as a series of videos on the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin’s YouTube channel. The individual installations will be uploaded successively, on 23 and 29 April, and on 6 and 13 May 2020. The series is presented by art historian Lutz Stöppler.
The series looks into Karl Friedrich Schinkel’s painting, his museum plans and designs for memorials for the Napoleonic Wars, as well as his architectural designs for a royal palace in Athens. Karl Friedrich Schinkel’s approach is compared with that of his Munich-based counterpart Leo von Klenze, in order to flesh out their divergent points of view.
