On 9 April 2025, International Provenance Research Day takes place for the seventh time. As in previous years, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin provides insights into the work of provenance researchers from diverse museums and subject areas.
In addition to traditional guided provenance walking tours in cooperation with other institutions in Berlin, the event includes tours, discussion rounds and blog contributions on provenance research and collection histories at the Alte Nationalgalerie, the Kupferstichkabinett (Museum of Prints and Drawings), the Museum Europäischer Kulturen (MEK, Museum of European Cultures), the Gemäldegalerie (Old Master Paintings) and at the Humboldt Forum.
If you would like to learn more about International Provenance Research Day on 9 April 2025 but also wish to stay up to date on the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin’s provenance research, follow the provenance research team’s Bluesky account: Postcolonial Provenance Research.
International Provenance Research Day is an initiative of the Arbeitskreises Provenienzforschung e. V., a worldwide network of 500 scholars and experts dedicated to researching the origins of cultural assets and artefacts. The International Provenance Research Day events can be followed via the association’s channels on the Mastodon and Bluesky social networks.
