At 6 p.m. on Sunday 6 January 2013, the exhibition 'Karl Friedrich Schinkel. History and Poetry' closed its doors to the public for the last time. Presented by the Kupferstichkabinett, the exhibition goes down as one of the most successful projects ever held at our Kulturforum site. A total of 60,000 visitors saw the exhibition on the life and work of the hugely multi-talented artist Karl Friedrich Schinkel.

The show explored Schinkel's enormous impact on the history of architecture and building aesthetics, as well as placing him in a wider European context, and studying his contribution to the economic development of Prussia. It was also the first exhibition to include a pointed study of Schinkel's history paintings and their relation within his oeuvre as a whole.

'Karl Friedrich Schinkel - History and Poetry' was a joint project held with the Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung, Munich, where it will now go on show from 1 February to 12 May 2013 under the title: 'Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Architect - Painter - Designer'.
