To celebrate the exhibition Food Revolution 5.0: Design for Tomorrow’s Society at the Kunstgewerbemuseum, the second and final Summer Food Market will be held on the Kulturforum piazzetta. For three days visitors and gourmands are invited to spend time savouring the culinary treats, talking about food and enjoying themselves. The food market event includes tastings as well as market and lunch talks featuring agricultural producers, cottage industry startups, street food vendors, and initiatives and organizations interested in nutrition-related issues. The Summer Food Market remains open until midnight during the Lange Nacht der Museen(Long Night of the Museums) on 25 August 2018.
Culinary offers at the Summer Food Market include Swabian cuisine and Indian soul food, seaweed snacks, ice cream made with the milk of Jersey cows pastured in Brandenburg, nose-to-tail and root-to-leaf Vesperteller (a spin on the traditional German meat and cheese platter), vegan Italian classics, natural wines, Austrian cider, fair trade coffee, handmade sweets and freshly baked bread from a vintage mobile bakery formerly used for the military. Moreover, at the booth of EssPress – a local culinary newspaper – young chefs in Berlin will present foodies with a variety of their own summer delicacies.
Kicking off the event on Thursday evening, food journalist and publicist Eva-Maria Hilker will discuss the future of museum gastronomy with chefs, restaurateurs and represesentatives from the fields of art and politics (23 August, 5‒7 pm).
On Friday the Science Café hosts an open house at which visitors will have the opportunity to discuss with experts whether more sustainable, healthier and better nutrition can be attained by eating preserved foods ... In cooperation with the BigPicnic project based at the Botanischer Garten (24 August, 5:30‒7 pm).
The Summer Food Market is open until midnight during the Lange Nacht der Museen (Saturday, 25 August), fortifying art lovers and museum fans with delicious food and beverages throughout the “long night”. Specially chosen short films with culinary themes accompany the evening as part of the Arte Sommerkino Kulturforum.
